Pond Cleaning Services in Maryland & Virginia
A thorough pond cleaning annually
Pond cleaning is an essential part of keeping any water feature functioning properly and looking its best. Over time, organic debris, sediment, algae, and seasonal buildup can disrupt water balance, strain equipment, and negatively impact fish and plant health. Our pond cleaning services are designed to restore clarity, improve circulation, and protect the long-term performance of ornamental ponds and water features.
We approach pond cleaning as more than a surface-level task. Effective pond cleaning requires a clear understanding of how biological systems, filtration, and hydraulics work together. Each cleaning is performed with attention to the overall health of the pond, ensuring that debris removal, water management, and system care are handled in the proper sequence. This methodical approach helps prevent avoidable issues and supports consistent operation throughout the year. As we often say, “A job worth doing is worth doing right!”, and that philosophy guides every service we provide.
Our pond cleaning services support both residential and commercial properties throughout Maryland, including Severna Park, Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Potomac, Frederick, Bowie, Annapolis, Crownsville, Timonium, Towson, and Randallstown. Each pond presents unique conditions based on location, usage, and environmental factors, and our experience allows us to adapt our process accordingly. Whether addressing seasonal cleanouts or accumulated buildup, we focus on protecting aquatic life, maintaining system integrity, and preparing the pond for continued operation.
Proper pond cleaning also plays a preventative role. Routine service helps identify developing issues with equipment, circulation, or structural components before they lead to costly repairs. By maintaining balance within the system, pond owners can extend the life of their investment while enjoying clear water and reliable performance. Our pond cleaning services are structured to support long-term functionality, ensuring ponds remain healthy, efficient, and visually appealing year after year.

How we intend to thoroughly care for your pond
1. Completely drain all water from your pond.
2. Place fish and plants in a 500 gallon holding tank. We have tanks in our inventory available to hold up to 18,000 gallons of water.
3. Our people remove all debris from the interior surfaces of the pond. That can be removed with the pressure of your garden hose. (Note: We do not recommend stripping out all biota from pond’s interior surfaces because, that biofilm is supportive to a healthy ecosystem.)
4. Debris are disposed within 50 feet of the pond at a discreet location on your site. (Off site debris removal is offered at an additional charge.)
5. Your pump and its intake screen are thoroughly clean. Aquatic plants are pruned and plant containers are rinsed off before returning them to the pond.
6. Chlorine-removal chemicals are added and, water refill is started.
7. The saved water and fish are returned from our holding tank to the pond.
8. Your circulation/filtration system is restarted.
This price is offered for ponds of 50 square feet of water surface, at a depth of 18” that have had the procedure described above performed in the last 12 months. Call for an estimated quote if your pond is larger or has been unattended to for a longer period of time. Payment is due upon the completion of work for first-time customers. If the customer desires, the crew that performs the cleaning will remain at an hourly rate to completely refill the pond with water. In most cases this is not necessary.

Please take note of the following:
We regret to inform you that we no longer provide cleaning services for ponds with loose rock or gravel bottoms, due to structural safety concerns. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by inheriting or purchasing such a maintenance-intensive structure, which differs significantly from a properly constructed pond. However, we would be pleased to offer you a quote for reconstructing your current gravel configuration into an interior architecture that promotes healthy water circulation, enhances structural integrity, and requires less maintenance. Following reconstruction, we would also be happy to assist with regular cleaning services.
Other images that we consider problematic in terms of maintenance are typically regarded by us as being essentially inverted piles of gravel.
